Wow! I’m almost speechless at everything that transpired this year…a new record with multi-platinum producer Warren Huart and Grammy-winning engineer Phil Allen, embarking on the first real radio promotion campaign of my year (that starts in just a few weeks), playing the famed Hotel Cafe in LA, opening for Howie Day, Herbert Gronemeyer, Red Molly and Blue Oyster Cult (does that make purple??) and of course, meeting many of you!!
I hope you enjoy this quick collection of snapshots that comprise my “Year in Review.” 2013 was a year filled with creative work with many talented team members…and I have these folks to thank for making Periscope possible:
First and foremost, I owe God the biggest thanks for making all things possible through faith – You always give me the hope I’m looking for. Thank You. Next, to my partner and darling husband Breck for your patience, love and support of my sometimes crazy creativity. To my wonderful parents Royal and Cindie, and brother and sister Avery and Katrina — you are the best family a girl could have and I love you all so much! To my songwriting partners and friends Aaron Espe and Dave Hedin. To Warren Huart, Phil Allen and Adam Newcomb, thanks for the amazing sounds you create! You sure know how to make songs shine. To my good friend, artist and designer Luke Flowers of Luke Flowers Creative for bringing the artistic vision to the CD and website graphics, photographer Art Heffron for capturing the images, and Alessandra for making me up to look my best. “Heavy” is for Scarlet and Jen — thank you both for sharing your hearts and inspiring this song. To each of my Kickstarters and Sellaband Believers (SO many of you, you know who you are!!), thank you for making this possible by pre-ordering the record before it existed. Your support means more than you know. An extra shout-out of gratitude to my Executive Producers – Stanley and Sydney Shuman (“Hurricane”), Harry and Diane Peer of Beavers Home Improvement (“Periscope”) and Stuart Kewish (“The Optimist”). To my Song Sponsors – Christopher Schmidt and Robert Kelso of Forensic Pursuit (“Thanks For Loving Me”), Paul Vastola of Rocky Mountain Recorders (“Battlesong”), Joel Conner of Generation T-Shirts (“Dark Days”), and Donna Terwilliger (“Only Human”). To my Periscope 100 Club: Victor York, Kevin and Betsy Kosmerl, Jonny Williams, Barb Dye, Danny Cordell, Antony Dunford, Charlie and Tandy Babb, Joe and Rose Rasmussen Smith, Gunnar Frenzel, Kevin Deitsch, David Prichard, Bron Faison, Will Drake, Max McGee, Manny Orejola, John and Angela Gerlick, Michael Hodder. Thank you ALL for being the ones who made this record financially possible! I couldn’t do it without you.
